EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - The Washington Capitals set a trap and the New Jersey Devils fell into it.
Alexander Semin had a goal and an assist and Brent Johnson made 29 saves Saturday as the Capitals ended a five-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the Devils.
Taking a page from the Devils book, the Capitals played a very patient defensive game.
"They are a team that waits to capitalize on your mistakes and then they jump on you," Johnson said. "Today, we were really patient. We didn't make mistakes in the neutral zone. We had the perfect game plan."
