Harris staying at Tech

Virginia Tech junior cornerback Victor "Macho" Harris is returning to school next fall after all.

Harris, a Highland Springs High graduate, sent a text message to Tech defensive backs coach Torrian Gray around 6 p.m. yesterday, informing him that he reversed his decision about declaring for the NFL draft, Gray said.

"Coach, I'm coming back," Gray said the text message read.
Harris announced Saturday that he was leaving early. Gray had encouraged him to return to school. The NFL committee, which advises underclassmen on where they might be selected, projected Harris as a third-round pick.
