Unhappy VT in our hearts...

I know this is a sports forum and all, but in light of today's events I just wanted to extend my deepest sympathies to the V-Tech community.

This is just unreal.

Don't know what else to say.

Re: VT in our hearts...

Absolutely, a complete and total tragedy. For those who haven't heard...

Gunman kills 32 in Virginia Tech rampage - Yahoo! News
BLACKSBURG, Va. - A gunman opened fire in a Virginia Tech dorm and then, two hours later, shot up a classroom building across campus Monday, killing 32 people in the deadliest shooting rampage in U.S. history. The gunman committed suicide, bringing the death toll to 33.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured and the families of those killed earlier today.

Re: VT in our hearts...

My deepest sympathy goes out to VT and VT families of the victims, being a Texas Aggie our school is unfortunately familiar with campus tragedy. Although our tragedy was an unfortunate accident, with no malicious intent, it was devastating to our Aggie family and our entire campus was touched regardless. It was in that tragic moment that all Aggies pulled together and showed what we were made of as people, students, and a campus. This week we hold our campus Muster where we honor and recognize all the Aggie that have passed that year, on Saturday when I attend our College Station Aggie Muster, I will say a prayer and say a quiet "Here" in honor of the Hokies. God bless you and be with you in your healing.

Mets 3B David Wright's younger brother is a senior at VaTech...a NYTimes blog said he was frantic this morning trying to get in contact with his brother. Finally, another brother reached David and said everything was alright.

Sad day for sure.

Re: VT in our hearts...

It was a very terrible day. Some of the details that have come out are very disturbing. I was actually asleep when this happened. I sleep with the radio on. I must have heard a broadcast as I was sleeping. I dreamt about it and it woke me up.

Re: VT in our hearts...

I live in California, have never even been to Virginia, and fortunately never been involved in a shooting. I haven't even been in a lock down. But watching the news yesterday, and especially today's ceremony, was just heartbreaking. I cried, here in Sacramento, California, on the other side of the country, as I watched students cry, both boys and girls. I can't imagine how difficult it will be for these students to overcome this, and do normal life things, as if nothing had happened. I've read books about Columbine, I've read fictional novels involving school shootings, and I feel so fortunate to never have had to deal with this sort of tragedy. Watching these students from Virginia Tech talk on Fox News, CNN, etc, it's remarkable how strong they are, and able to speak so well about the events that happened yesterday. I'd probably be in such shock I'd have no words. I am impressed with the Virginia Tech students and staff, and I wish them all the best. And for any Virginia Tech students reading this, I am on the other side of the country, in California, and have never even been to Virginia, and this has brought me to tears. You're not alone in your grief, and shock. We're all here for you, throughout the entire nation--no, make that, world. You ARE Virginia Tech.

Re: VT in our hearts...

As an engineering student in Arizona I deeply sympathize with my fellow students in Virginia. This is such a senseless tragedy with so many questions and so few answers. At first I was angry that someone would commit such an act, then was full of sorrow thinking of the victims and their families, then confused as to what triggered this guy to do this. My anger has subsided somewhat and I now realize this kid was deeply troubled and had deep pain within himself that caused him to do this. My thoughts and prayers go to all the victims and their families as well as the family of the shooter himself. I can't imagine what it would be like to have my son do something like this.

Re: VT in our hearts...

I made something for all of the VT fans, and all of the friends and family. I wish there was something more that I could do, but this is all I could do right now for everyone who loves for VT as much as I do, and has friends and families of the lost ones in their hearts.
