Members of the Virginia Tech wrestling team will spend their first weekend of Thanksgiving Break competing in two tournaments. Senior Steve Borja, who is ranked as high as fourth in the country, and Steve Ratley will be the lone Hokies competing in the Kaufman-Brand Open, held in Omaha, Neb., on Saturday while other members of the team will compete in the ESU Open in East Stroudsburg, Pa.

Re: Virginia Tech wrestling

Looks like the Hokies did pretty well this weekend.

Decker wins ESU Open at 165 pounds
EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - Freshman Eric Decker of the Virginia Tech wrestling team highlighted a group of 12 athletes who competed at the East Stroudsburg Open, Saturday. Decker, from Wells Bridge, N.Y., went 5-0 to win the 174-pound weight class while Jon Bonilla-Bowman took third place in the 149-pound class.

Borja takes third at Kaufman-Brand
OMAHA, Neb. - Virginia Tech's Steve Borja took third place at the prestigious Kaufman-Brand Open in the Elite Division at 184 pounds, Saturday at Sapp Field House on the campus of the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Re: Virginia Tech wrestling

I heard a story once about some Hokie D-linemen who were sent to workout with the wrestling team, and do a little wrestling. The line did as asked, but returned later asking that the coach never make them do that again, please.
