CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- The University of Virginia announced Thursday night that four players from this season's football team, including two-year starting quarterback Jameel Sewell, are not enrolled in classes this semester.
The school said in a brief news release that privacy laws preclude it from commenting any further, but the announcement comes one day after a new semester started at Virginia, suggesting that the players are academically ineligible.
It likely means that they will not be eligible to participate in spring practice, which is critical for many programs in preparing for the coming season.
