Three freshmen have played for Vanderbilt this fall.
With three regular-season games remaining on the Commodores' schedule, the chances of a fourth first-year player reaching the field have dwindled to almost nothing.
"It's getting to be about that point in the season that you're very reluctant to take a red shirt off a guy," Vanderbilt Coach Bobby Johnson said.
After holding 17 of the 24 freshmen in the 2006 class, the Commodores are set to redshirt 11 of this year's 14 incoming players. Defensive end Theron Kadri, tight end Austin Monahan and linebacker/long-snapper John Stokes are the only three first-year Vanderbilt players who have worked their way onto the playing field.
