| Vandy men survive Tusculum's upset bid Before Monday's exhibition game against visiting Tusculum, Vanderbilt men's basketball Coach Kevin Stallings had concerns about his team's defense. The Commodores' 80-79 win showed why. Vanderbilt allowed 54 second-half points and needed a free throw from senior guard Alex Gordon with 2.2 seconds left to seal the victory — despite leading by as many as 21 points three minutes into the half. "I wanted to see how we'd defend," Stallings said. "I said before the game, 'I'm interested to see how we defend in the second half'. I didn't think I'd spur them on to such greatness. "I wouldn't have told them I was interested to see how they'd defend in the second half if I'd thought they'd lock them down." Full Story
