COLUMBIA, S.C. — 70 years.
That's how long it's been since Vanderbilt defeated a team ranked No. 6 in the country.
Or more accurately, that's how long it had been before Saturday's 17-6 upset of host South Carolina.
"We weren't really concerned about their ranking," Commodores quarterback Mackenzi Adams said after leading his team's 17-point first-quarter uprising in his first career start. "We knew they had a great team. We were going to come in here and have to play well to beat them whether they were (Nos.) 1 or 10 or 20."
