They say thecalls even out over the course of a season.

Or a century.

Or a millennium.

If that is indeed the case, Vanderbilt is going to have one heckuva next 10 games.

Or 92 seasons.

Or 992 years.

The perception on West End and elsewhere is that the refs jobbed the Commodores — again — in a 24-10 loss to Alabama last weekend.

A questionable offensive pass interference call against Earl Bennett negated a 60-yard gain on the first play of the game and a phantom facemask penalty erased Alex Washington's 70-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Would Vanderbilt have won the game without those flags? Probably not.

Alabama was clearly the better team.

But we'll never know for sure, will we?
