| Commodores mad as Saban gets first SEC win at Bama Vanderbilt's performance in its Southeastern Conference opener Saturday against Alabama was like a blind-side hit. Nobody saw it coming. In front of a Vanderbilt Stadium sellout crowd of 39,773, the Commodores struggled from the opening play of the game and never regrouped in an eventual 24-10 loss marred by breakdowns in every phase. Penalties on offense and special teams, missed tackles on special teams and defense, and missed opportunities across the board kept Vanderbilt (1-1, 0-1 SEC) from ever really challenging the visitors. As a result, the Crimson Tide won its league debut under first-year coach Nick Saban. "We made too many first-half errors to have a chance to win," Commodores Coach Bobby Johnson said. "We can't help the other team." Vandy seethes Red - Nashville, Tennessee - Sunday, 09/09/07
