Re: Time to Rebuild Nonis was hired by the previous owner, and wasn't liked by the new ones. You can "bet" that Naslund and his $6 million salary are also History, it's just a matter of days or weeks. As to how I would rebuild ?, well, I would wait till the playoffs are over and see who's available, but you guys are more skilled at this than I, so feel free to fire and hire at will.

Re: Time to Rebuild Well, Naslund is gone to the Rangers, Morrison to the Ducks, Lynden retired. Offering Mat Sundin $20 million over 2 years is insane, obviously there was something in the fine print, as you would have to be an idiot not to jump at that. Looks to me like the Management decided to commit franchise suicide. No hope of being a contender now, maybe a couple of years of empty seating will wake them up.

Re: Time to Rebuild this is more exciting: Canucks signed forward Pavol Demitra to an $8-million, two-year contract. He's 33-year and had 54 points (15-39) in 68 games with Minnesota last season. I know, he's "old" (which means hockey old, not really old) but this transaction has been the more exciting of any Canucks news yet this post season.

Much smarter and cost effective choice over Sundin. Also, now they have a nucleus for a second line. |

Re: Time to Rebuild The key word here is "terms", as obviously that is the only thing holding Mat back. Maybe he has to take the team to the playoffs before he gets his $20 M. But really, no one here understands the Management's decision of wanting him in the first place, he's to old now, and did nothing for the Leafs during the post season.
