| Canucks are GONE Thanks to the Oilers. This majorly sucks. 2-1 Burrows gets a goal but Canucks cannot do it in the final stretch and they fall out of contention. Hand it to the Oilers - they still have some magic, even though they are gone too (can't say that about the Leafs). from yahoo: Especially against an Edmonton team that had its late-season playoff push end with a 3-2 loss to Calgary on Tuesday. Leading scorer Ales Hemsky (knee) and gritty center Kyle Brodziak (broken finger) were both hurt against the Flames. Add those to a staggering list of injuries—a franchise-record 340 man-games lost coming into the game—that includes Shawn Horcoff, Sheldon Souray, Raffi Torres and No. 1 goaltender Mathieu Garon. The Oilers hadn’t beaten Vancouver in regulation in almost 16 months, going 9-0-3 since. Go Calgary is now my cry.

| Re: Canucks are GONE Linden is not coming back, he got a "standing O" at the last game as the fans said good bye to the local boy. Last time he was a force was during the Finals against the Rangers The new owners "Aquilini brothers" inherited the team and it's management with their purchase last year, so, I think it's going to be all new, top to bottom for next season. Obviously, el kapitan, M. Naslund is not coming back either, through a lack of inspirational play. They need BIGGER, YOUNGER, HUNGRIER, players. I wouldn't know where to start. |

| Re: Canucks are GONE If I remember correctly, last year's winning team was mostly made up of Canadians, so you should be OK. ___________________________________________ The one and only Stanley Cup... The Stanley Cup is not only the most famous trophy in the professional sporting world; it's also the oldest sporting trophy (first presented in 1893). Crafted in Sheffield, England, it was purchased by Lord Stanley for 10 guineas (equivalent of $48.67) in 1892. The bowl on the top of the Stanley Cup is a copy of the original bowl that was purchased by Lord Stanley. The original bowl is being kept at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. It's hard to believe, but at the beginning, names of the players who won the Stanley Cup were added by scratching the bowl with a knife or a nail. From the 1890s, bands were added to the bottom of the bowl to hold the names of the winning teams and players. From 1948, the Stanley Cup consists of a wide barrel-shaped base and a removable bowl and a collar. Once a bottom ring is filled with the names (it takes 13 years for one ring), another one is removed from the top of the base and retired at the Hockey Hall of Fame. The Stanley Cup weighs 35 pounds and is just under 3 feet tall. |

And yes the American players are just as good, but there aren't as many of them. *There are many good Canadian Baseball players, but there are many more good American players. |
