Jazz vs. Warriors - NBA Playoffs

The Utah Jazz have home-court advantage in the second round of the playoffs and very little time to celebrate getting it. The second round, and the Golden State Warriors, will come at them quickly.

Re: Jazz vs. Warriors - NBA Playoffs

Looks like the Warriors could really make it if they continue their current trend.

Cool Re: Jazz vs. Warriors - NBA Playoffs

What a great game. I think the difference is going to be Boozer. He can pretty much do anything he wants in the paint.

Jazz Adjusting to Holding Series Lead

SALT LAKE CITY, May 8 (AP) -- For now, the Utah Jazz can focus on trying to keep a lead in a playoff series rather than having to come from behind.

The Jazz lead the Golden State Warriors 1-0 in the Western Conference semifinals after winning the opener 116-112 on Monday. It's the first time Utah has opened a series with a victory since 2001.

The Jazz had to rally after losing the first two games against the Rockets in the opening round and never led in the series until they won Game 7 in Houston on Saturday. So how will they handle being in front?

"I tell them to win every game. Sometimes they don't listen,'' coach Jerry Sloan said after practice Tuesday.

Make it 2-0, Utah leading Golden State in this series.

NBA - Golden State Warriors/Utah Jazz Recap Wednesday May 9, 2007 - Yahoo! Sports
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- All Derek Fisher needed to do to inspire his teammates was make it to the game.

He did so much more, capping a dramatic night by scoring all five of his points in overtime in Utah's 127-117 victory over Golden State on Wednesday night -- a game Fisher nearly missed while returning from New York, where his baby daughter underwent cancer surgery.

"I don't know how I got through this tonight. I really don't," said Fisher, who hit his only shot, a 3-pointer.

The win and Utah's 2-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinals were overshadowed by what Fisher did Wednesday. He had said Monday that one of his four children was ill, but did not go into detail on how serious it was other than to say he needed to be with his family instead of at the game Monday.

After the game Wednesday, he told how serious 10-month-old Tatum's condition was. She has retinoblastoma, a form of eye cancer that required a three-hour combination of surgery and chemotherapy at New York's Presbyterian Hospital.

"My daughter's doing well," Fisher said. "We had a successful operation in New York and I flew back and got off the plane and came to the game. I'm speechless."

Another great game. Who would have thought it? This is turning into a great series. I'd be shocked if GS didn't win Game 3.

Jazz Outlast Warriors for Game 2 OT Victory

Derek Fisher missed most of the first three quarters because of a family illness, then scored all five of his points in overtime to lead Utah to a 127-117 victory over the Golden State Warriors and a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinals.

Re: Davis Carries Warriors to Game 3 Victory

Utah has now taken a 3-1 series lead over Golden State with yesterday's 115-101 win.

According to the Associated Press, "Carlos Boozer had 34 points and 12 rebounds and the Jazz handed the eighth-seeded Warriors their first home loss of the postseason... With a poised, gritty performance that should have made the former Jazz greats proud, Utah earned the chance to clinch its first trip to the conference finals since 1998 with a victory at home in Game 5 on Tuesday night, ending the Warriors' improbable run of playoff excitement." Can they close it out on Tuesday.
