USC flight almost crashes

Scary stuff - the plane carrying the USC Trojans football team into South Bend for their game against Notre Dame tomorrow experienced stormy skies and reportedly came close to crashing. Southern Cal fullback Stanley Havli called the incident "terrifying... I thought I was going to die." Wow.

Wasn't there a team, years ago, that was lost to a plane accident ?? Seems like it was about 20 years ago and I can't recall for sure but I believe it was a college basketball team.

I think it was in the late 70s when Evansville U lost their basketball team in a plane crash. Is that the one you're thinking of?

I did some research and found this, from 1977.

And in Collage Football there a late 1960's Marshall team which they have made a movie about Which I own. If get the chance to see We Are Marshall its a great movie.

I believe that is the one that I was thinking of. Guess my 20 years ago guess was a bit off the mark. I was pretty sure it was a midwestern team.

USC just can't catch a break can they?

It's amazing to think of all the pro and collegiate sports teams that use air travel and that there haven't been more crashes.
