More Possible USC Player Violations

Back-up and one-time future starting QB Mark Sanchez has been suspended after being arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a female university student. Sanchez is free on bond and to the best of my knowledge has not been officially charged yet in the incident, but he will be banned during the LAPD's investigation. Thoughts?

Re: More Problems for USC - Sanchez arrested, suspended

I think USC is turning into a disaster. The coaching staff needs to get their heads on straight and teach discipline instead of only worrying about winning games...

Re: More Problems for USC - Sanchez arrested, suspended

Whether he is guilty or not he or someone related to him is now short $200,000 for bail (though I am not sure of the formalities for posting bail) and now he is the labeled as the "scumbag prospective QB at USC" instead of simply the prospective QB. His name should be kept anonymous until he is at least charged with something. Jesus.

Unbelievable... now reports suggest that Leinart and WR Dale Jarrett may have violated NCAA rules in connection with a $3,800-plus per month apartment the duo shared - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news;_...v=ap&type=lgns

Re: More Problems for USC - Sanchez arrested, suspended

This is unreal. I hope all of this is true and they get busted. I can't believe the things that people can find after they start to look around a bit.

Its sad to say, but I think the only way this stuff will stop is if a big time program like USC gets nailed...

Cool Re: More Possible USC Player Violations

Okay, let get a tiny bit of perspective on this...In Matt and Reggie's case...It's L.A. rents and housing is through the roof...they are star athletes, who can live on campus...but hey when you are that big a star, you are a freakin target for everything on campus anyway...still, you make them huge stars in L.A. of all places...and then you have a cow when they get perks on a place to live of all things...just shut down USC while you are at it...tell me people in Iowa have trouble with super high rents etc...

...as for Sanchez...come on people he is not quilty yet...lets let the system do its thing...if it was one of us, we would demand no less...

The problem is not USC or Florida State or much of the other schools...unless of course we are talking low academic standards for athletes...the problem is really, really, dumb NCAA rules...find me a totally clean program and I wil show you a losing division I program...we made the monster...now we wish to slay it...

Re: More Possible USC Player Violations

I dont think anybody made the "monster", and if they cant legally pay rent in LA it looks like they have two options: Live on campus, or go to another school. I think the NCAA is completely right in investigating all of this...

The NCAA certainly has the right to investigate all they would like and fine and sanction who they wish...but don't tell me we didn't create the monster....we give these kids "god like status"...throw fame at them...make tons of money off of them...and then make the rules insanely stupid about how they can make money or what perks they can have...and at 19 or 20 etc...with the backhround a lot of them have and no coping skills given them...hey, they are suppose to be more mature than the rest of the country...come on now...its a dream world...ain't gonna happen...oh, and we live in a captialist society to boot...can't have them make money out of thier skills in a captialist society...but hey, the system can make money off of them...NCAA gets what it created...

Re: More Possible USC Player Violations

The NCAA is in charge, so they most definitely get what they created. Everyone is making it out like these kids are getting picked on, and it is not fair because they don't know any better...in other words they are just kids...

Sure, they are just kids...but they have to realize that they are kids playing a very popular sport...

The bottom line is "RULES ARE RULES" regardless of how stupid they are, or how bad people hate them. If you cant follow the rules you will suffer the consequences!

yep...I agree with you...and life demands consequences...but if the NCAA really looked into it...I doubt they find one clean top 25 program...USC, Bush, and Leinart are scapegoats of the day!...

You want a probe...then probe the whole damn sport...don't take two top palyers from a top school and say, hey we are going to efforce the rules!

You ain't fixing anything...

Me...I would turn around and probe NCAA officals while I am at it...it would go like this...

"gee Bob, I see your expense report lists a $500 lunch...and a trip to the zoo...how come"

"Oh, ...uhm...yeah...I had to follow Reggie Bush and Matt around...they had an expensive meal and a trip to the zoo...so, I like...you know didn't want to blow my cover..."

"yeah, but you expensed a trnasmission for your car, and its not a company car"

"Yeah...but look...I get paid $50K a year and well...that was one of the perks I get on this job...you know?..."

"No, I don't know...but I got to catch my lear jet back to NCAA headquarters...I hate flying coach...long waits at the airport."

Tell, you what...if the NCAA officials turns up clean...and so do the other programs...throw the freakin book at USC...but if they don't....lets stop the hypocrisy...

Re: More Possible USC Player Violations

Unfortunately that is not how the system works. They are in charge; like it or not....
