Plenty of blame to go around at USC

It's easy to fault USC QB John David Booty for the team's disastrous loss to lowly Stanford and overall struggles in the first half of the season. But the Trojans' wide receivers must take at least half of the blame. The group has yet to build any semblance of consistency. The leading receiver is TE Fred Davis, which shows the depth of the problems. Three wide receivers who were big-time recruits -- Patrick Turner, Vidal Hazelton and David Ausberry -- have failed to take over the No. 1 receiver spot. The line has dealt with numerous injuries, and Booty -- who isn't exactly speedy -- has taken a beating. A finger injury on his throwing hand likely will keep Booty out of Saturday's game against Arizona. It won't be much better for backup Mark Sanchez if his teammates don't pull their share of the load. ...

The Trojans as a team have just seemed to lack intensity this year. Maybe they just got too comfotable being ranked #1.
