USC violations involving Reggie Bush? Apparently there may be a problem here. I wonder if it is possible USC will have to forfeit last years games. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_yl...yhoo&type=lgns

Re: USC violations involving Reggie Bush? Scandal... that term is used really loosely now in college football (really all revenue generating college athletics). My question is does anyone really care? If the NCAA retracts USC's 2005 season from the record books (including Reggie Bush's heisman) are we all going to pretend it didn't take place? Will it result in anyone forgetting about the Notre Dame or Fresno State games? All of these semantics by the NCAA are usually inconsequential. I still remember the fab five quite vividly.

Re: USC violations involving Reggie Bush? Yes, I definitely care. There is no place in college athletics for this sort of behavior. Just like everyone cared when it happened at OSU with Clarrett. I think that anything like this is sure to get national attention, and deservedly so...

Re: USC violations involving Reggie Bush? The most hilarious result of this is people saying that the Downtown Athletic Club will take a long hard look at this and may revoke Reggie's Heisman trophy. O J Simpson can keep his, but Reggie, we want yours back!

Re: USC violations involving Reggie Bush? Great argument by Woody Paige on 1st & Ten or whatever that show is (just happened to catch some of it after the draft preview this afternoon). Basically, what he said was, when he went to college and worked as an editor, he was paid a $1500 stipend for his services. In that light, why AREN'T college athletes paid, considering they are also more or less employees of the school?

Re: USC violations involving Reggie Bush? Thats kind of what I was implying, are we really that offended if a low-income family has a nice house to live in? What kind of infraction is that? Especially considering Reggie Bush has generated mass publicity and probably millions of dollars for USC. I can understand the argument against paying college athletes though. Some believe it would ruin the sanctity of amuteur athletics, or whatever sanctity is left. Another argument is that once athletes are paid it is only a matter of time before people are advocating higher pay for them, or lobbyist groups asking why athletes competing in non-revenue generating sports are not paid. Then it gets to the point of determining where to draw the line, which can become incredibly distorted. This is a really complicated issue.

Re: USC violations involving Reggie Bush? Whether the NCAA rules are fair or not, its becoming increasingly clear that Bush most likely violated them. He's now been tied to a sports agency, and now USC OT Winston Justice is involved too. Check out Yahoo! Sports's Charles Robinson's article: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_yl...=lgns&expire=1
