Last I checked, John David Booty was still this team's starting QB. I guess Sanchez could beat him out, though.

He was redshirted last year. According to his bio, he won scout team offensive player of the year honors, and this season, "The precocious Sanchez will battle for the starting quarterback job as a redshirt freshman in 2006." I think he got into some legal trouble last season and all but handed the job to Booty, but I could be remembering wrong.

No, I think he is a quality kid...I just think Booty has the edge going into the season...and Sanchez has time to sit, learn and spell him...why be in a rush to throw him in there?...USC is a high profile school...I don't think they would take the risk.
