The Conference USA preseason poll has picked the UCF Golden Knights to finish third in the conference's Eastern Division. According to Brian Murphy of Central Florida Future, "The league's 12 head coaches have placed the Knights third with 47 points, just one point shy of second-place East Carolina in the poll. Southern Miss (69 points) was picked to win the East. The Golden Eagles are the defending East Division champions."

So what do you think? Are the Knights more likely to finish higher or lower than coaches predict?

That's about right. UCF has been growing rapidly. They are in the process of building a stadium out by the campus...which may helped them better than having to play at the Citrus Bowl. In a few years, I think they can recruit with the big boys of the state.

Well, the reason I ask is that they won the 2005 Conference USA Championship, but were favored to repeat last season and went just 3-5 in the conference. So I'm wondering which Golden Knights team is going to show up this fall.

I think they will be fine, especially after adding line coach Tom Freeman who had a lot of success at Pittsburgh. I doubt they will be 3-5 in the conference again this year.
