There were probably times when T.J. Ford thought about quitting as he tried once again to come back from a nasty neck and back injury. His decision to stick it out can only pay dividends in the final three months for the Raptors.

Ford returned to action Monday night in Miami. He had missed 24 games after a hard fall in a game in Atlanta on Dec. 11. His line wasn't much Monday -- four points and four assists in 18 minutes -- but his return once again gives the Raptors one of the most potent point-guard duos in the NBA.

Ford and Jose Calderon are seen as a key to whatever success the Raptors will have in the postseason because there is no drop-off in talent from starter to backup.

Calderon is expected to remain as the team's starter for the foreseeable future but the way the two work, it doesn't make much of a difference whether he or Ford starts.

My sister is a big fan of T J Ford. So I did a little digging.
TJ has a congenital narrowing of the spinal cord which makes him prone to spinal injuries.
His last injury was a spinal cord contusion. He said the mental part of coming back was harder this time than the last even though he was out longer the last time. Retirement did pass through his head.

I saw a piece on him in the news on one of the ESPN channels, I think. He is risking serious injury by still playing. I remember thinking his career was over when I heard it.
