| Roberts out- peca becomes bigger possibility Panthers GM Kennan doesn't want to give Roberts up - says it will set a bad precedent, as Roberts insisted on a no trade clause in his two year contract a year ago when he came to FLa, bringing friend Nieuwendyk with him. Keenan says the deal making is not done, but is making no progress.
Roberts divorced his wife while he was in TO, remarried and now wants to be able to live in TO again so he can visit his daughter who is up here in school (mom, Roberts' first wife, is here too).
So it was more family unhappiness, but Leafs aren't buying, so that means Peca is more of a possibility. There is room to buy him. peca will have to take a cut - 2.5 mill from last year's 4 - but he'll get noticed in TO, they say.
There was a short mention of the Tucker-Peca relationship, but more of a 'They'll bury it and move on' kind of thing. Which is what hockey players do, for the most part. Hit as hard as they can, then have bbqs together later on.
And in the Does anybody care? dept:
Luke richardson is a Lightning , now. short lived not so memorable stay in TO is over. 1 goal, 9 assists, and now he's getting $500,000 for a year. I could think of worse teams to play for - although, they no longer have Modin. |
