Maple Leafs GM Cliff Fletcher, who promised to clean house when he took over in the spring, put Wellwood and Raycroft on waivers today. If they clear waivers, as expected, they'll be unrestricted free agents on July 1.
Wellwood, who earned $950,000 (all figures U.S.) last year, might have become a restricted free agent, meaning the Leafs might get compensation if another team signed him.

Our AHL Marlies goalie Scott Clemmensen will also be an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Oh and - they bought Tucker out. He wouldn't waive his no-trade clause. Leafs are buying him out for $6 mill right away and a million a years for the next 6 years.
Don't let the door hit you on your way out.
Wellwood is gone for sure. Raycroft, if he clears waivers, may go down to the minors.
End of an era.

Also, they have clarified that Mats negotiating rights are exclusively wit the habs and the Rangers are not also in on the bargaining.

Peterborough was good enough to point this out re what they will pay Tucker.

so I guess Tucker doesn't get the mill a year charge - the nhl does.

Raycroft has been bought out.
He is on unconditional waivers as the Leafs buy out the final year of his contract. He was due to earn $2.2 million (U.S.) next season.
I gotta say - I shed no tears.
