Bell assigned prison work detail

He won't go to prison but he will spend his days working at a California jail from June 2 to August 15.
After pleading no contest to drunken driving and hit and run charges last summer, Bell was sentenced yesterday to a work program. Then they'll decide if he should do more.
Bell rear ended a pickup truck near San Jose back in Sept 2006. he fled the scene and left the driver suffering head injuries.

Re: Bell assigned prison work detail

A pretty major mistake on his part and I bet he feels lucky to have been able to play this year. Seems like a reasonable sentence although I'm sure some folks at M.A.D.D would disagree. He can't really argue FOR himself here but as long as he fulfills the sentence and begins reconditioning afterward, I'm sure he'll have a good career. It's never smart to do what he did but I'm sure you and I can point to neighbors or friends or family members who have done the same thing without witness and certainly without repercussion. He'll just have to become better because of it and thank whatever thing he worships that noone was seriously hurt.

Absolutley it's a light sentence. Sinful.

Money buys justice.

That is one HUGE problem with this country. You are as innocent as your lawyer.

I hate that he left the scene - he was always seem like a weasel for that. But yes, he has expressed extreme remorse and he was very happy to be given the year to play (and break his jaw).
You hope this scare will ensure he doesn't do it again.
