reasons toronto is in the basement

look at these numbers:
leafs are 28th on the powerplay (best is Montreal) and 29th on the penalty kill - best is dallas.
Those numbers alone speak: Losers.

GAA- 3.17 which is 28th in the league. the best is Detroit with 2.14.
Yuck.

Goals for average - 17th, with 2.17. best is Ottawa - 3.4.
We are 5th in shots per game with 30.6 - best is Detroit with 34.6.
Shots against? 20.2 which puts us at 18th. best is Detroit with 23.6

You are rotten at the power pay and the penalty kill and your GAA stinks too and you will tank. It is inevitable.
Remedy? make some drastic changes.

The special teams and goaltending are absolutely atrocious, you're right about that blue. Drastic changes are definitely needed. But what?

Re: reasons toronto is in the basement

we tried that.
it didn't work.
I would think massive movement of players. I keep harping for the firing of Maurice, but maybe there is just no one to replace him (Acton for the interim?).
Move Tucker, Kubina (hard one), Kilger (although I like him alot), some young ones - Steen, Stajan - and maybe Sundin is a necessary trade for us, if he gives in at the deadline.
This team isn't working.

Start over. Trade away as many older players as you can, and most of all.

TALK SUNDIN OUT OF THE NO TRADE CLAUSE!!!!!

He needs to leave Toronto and can do a lot on another team if he has an ample line around him, but on the Leafs he's just weighing them down.
