| Re: Leafs are penalty free in win over Sens so far this is all i can find : The most penalties in a single game occurred in a fight-filled match between the Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers on March 5, 2004 when 419 penalty minutes were handed out. Statistically, a game misconduct counts as 10 penalty minutes, in addition to other penalties handed out. I need the opposite of that stat. |

| Re: Leafs are penalty free in win over Sens I found this list on a site called hfboards, but these are actually penalty free games: On January 31, 1923, the Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Tigers played the very first penalty-free game in the NHL. In 1926, Montreal Canadiens beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 in a penalty-free game at Pittsburgh. It was the 3rd penalty-free game in NHL history. On February 20, 1944, Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks played the only scoreless and penalty-free game in NHL history. The game, handled by referee Bill Chadwick, took only one hour and 55 minutes to complete. On February 4, 1973, Buffalo Sabres defeated New York Islanders 5-1 in a rare, penalty-free game. On March 13, 1976, New York Rangers beat Vancouver Canucks 7-3 in a penalty-free contest officiated by Lloyd Gilmour. On January 26, 1980, New York Islanders defeated Hartford Whalers 3-2 at Nassau Coliseum in a penalty-free game. Referee Wally Harris called no penalties. Isles' coach Al Arbour remarked: "I thought the ref and the linesmen had been taking tranquilizers. They didn't see anything, they didn't call anything." On February 17, 1980, Montreal and Buffalo skated to a 2-2 tie. The game was played without a penalty called by referee Wally Harris. On April 9, 2000, Colorado beat Detroit 3-2 in the first penalty-free NHL game in 20 years. Referees Greg Kimmerly and Dennis LaRue whistled zero penalties. On March 28, 2001, Boston shutout Toronto 3-0 in a penalty-free game handled by referees Don Koharski and Dennis LaRue. and the game misconduct total on that Ott-Philly game? 20 - even esche and lalime got them, and Spezza and Esche and Radivojevic got 2 of them. |

| Re: Leafs are penalty free in win over Sens So it's happened at least 11 times (9 listed above, the one that took place between 1923 and 1926 and the one yesterday). Fascinating. And on the opposite end of the spectrum - 20 game misconducts! How in the world did the two teams have enough players to finish the game???

| Re: Leafs are penalty free in win over Sens Flyers won 5-3. 13 players remained to play the final minute or so. Plus on another site I noted it said there were 21 major fight penalties handed out, not 20. I just you tubed it - it is fight after fight after fight. Lalime races down to the other end to take on Esche - that goalie-on-goalie thing to even things out. One commentator says it probably became embarrassing if you didn't get kicked out of the game. fans must have become bored. |
