So as feared we beat carolina - barely - and the headlines today are,
Leafs still have a heartbeat,
and
Leafs ray of sun.
Don't let this win fool you. They were so close to losing it wasn't funny.
This was not a shining goalie night, for sure.
Carolina put in Leighton, who let in 3 goals in the 2nd and then Ward appeared in the 3rd. not sure why because Leighton was not great but it was no panic situation.
At that point it was 3-2 and Toskala didn't look so bad.
but wait. Carolina evens it up. then Toronto scores twice. then with seconds to go and Carolina one man up with Ward on the bench, they score again. 5-4. Argument over how much time should be up on the clock, it's decided 3.3 seconds and i hate to admit it but that's enough time to score on the Leafs. so i hid my face and the leafs won.
give the Canes another minute they would have evened it up again, like the last nasty time we played them and lost in OT.
This wasn't a ray of sunshine. This was luck.
