Is Sundin going?

I can't ever let the media up here seriously tell me what's going on because it is an alarmist media - McCabe is injured and the headlines scream WHAT WILL WE DO??!!
But lately, talk has been about Sundin and how/if we'll keep him.
I realized, reading yet another article on him this morn and seeing who the "experts" (healey, Milbury, Watters, Muckler) would trade him for - I've been living in denial about this whole Will Sundin actually leave? thing.
I know I'm of the female persuasion and I often wonder, in our discussions, how this affects me as opposed to how a male would react. I make jokes about pining for the tall attractive just extremely nice and classy Sundin but first and foremost - no matter how good looking he is, if he sucked at hockey, i wouldn't like him and I wouldn't want him.
Thing is, he doesn't suck - he's the best thing we have going - and I think leaf Brass is starting to think, as we look at 25 games of the next 40 that need to be won just to get in the playoffs - could we really benefit from trading Mats? It seems to be getting closer to, Yes.
And I am wrecked. Sundin in a rangers uniform?, Sundin as an Av?, a Flyer?, A red Wing?
A Senator?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Some of the suggestions by the experts:
Muckler says trade him to Detroit for Lilja, brendan Smith and two high round draft picks. healey says go to the Sens for eaves, mezsaros, vermette and 2 first or second round draft picks. Milbury says go to jersey for Nicklas Bergfors and an '08 first round draft pick.
i say: KEEP SUNDIN AND GET RID OF THE REST OF THE TEAM.

How about Trent Hunter for him, Blue?

Well, lets see, you are girl, but not a girly-girl...so yeah, we figure your takes include more than just the pining bit... ...though I think when it comes to Swedes...I am not too sure...I will try to trade you one in the GTG league to test you.

Re: Is Sundin going?

Hwo about Downey for him??

Really though, seeing him as a Flyer would make my day. But if you are like me, that is your nightmare. I hate seeing my best, or favorite player, on a Rival.

I had to look up Mister Hunter.
At a minus 15, I'm not sure I'd go for that trade. And baldwise, Sundin's got it over him.

And Downie, Phils - yeah - no maybe we'll wait for Simon to come back and then start up talks of a trade there. or maybe hatcher because he can take out one of our own.

Go ahead - test me, GDK.

Glad you are keeping your sense of humor! I really would be surprised to see him anywhere but Toronto. I guess that would make my McFarlane figure of his worth more money!!!

Re: Is Sundin going?

Sundin himself has said time and again that he wants to play only for the Leafs and no one else.
But our management is treading water - no, they are going down for the third time. What we should do is chuck out McCabe, sell raycroft for ANYTHING, get us a decent goalie and find a better line mate to mats than blake.
But who am I? Just a lowly obsessed fan.

I remember feeling that way about the Flyers, back around 91-92. Then LIndros came, and all was right with the world for a while. Then that era ended. The world didn't end, and the team go along pretty well without him.

Maybe him going wouldn't be the worst thing, but managment has to have a plan.

Re: Is Sundin going?

It'll be weird, seeing him in anything else but blue and white. A mourning period. Sad. I have to be prepared, like the boy scouts.

Now that is a good outlook! It will work out. The worst part is when your former faves play agianst you. That is the part I hate...

It was strange seeing Lindros and Leclair in other sweaters, after being the core of our team. Those were the biggest blows. It was time for both to go, for different reasons, but that was just a great time for the team.

Rod Bind'amour (sp) was another big blow. He still seems to be producing. I aways thought he should have been Captain before Lindros, but that never really happened.

I was very happy to see him hoist the Cup!

Re: Is Sundin going?

oh that ray bourque thing infuriates me. I say if one of your heroes leaves because he knows he's not going to win a cup and goes to a team favoured to win that cup - never let him back in your town. bourque leaves Boston after 21 years, wins with Col. and then they honour him in Boston. I would have said, Ray who?
Infuriates me. Cujo made a comment about how he wanted to leave to play with detroit because "Toronto didn't have a chance of winning the Cup" and we would have burned him at the stake if we'd caught him on his way out of town.

Now tell us how you really feel?

I don't know. I mean they played their hearts out for the team, and perhaps management never did the right thing? Is it their fault? Do they really need to go down with the team???

I am torn on the subject.
