philly wins in Toronto

Another loss.
Raycroft was phenomenal, really, and any goal I saw was the result of bad defense. But the story was Niittymaki. 54 saves, 20 shots just in the 3rd. 29 saves for Raycroft.
Final score 3-2.
Who scored for Toronto? Who else? Sundin, both times.
Philly was rotten sometimes - Blake was sucker punched (the ref was holding his arms so Downie swing at him and blackened his eye immediately - nice). Then Hatcher took a running jump at Steen (didn't get a call on that-how come? he left his feet, took Steen out but he had ducked some and Lupul happened to be behind him. lupul leaves with a rung bell, stumbling across the ice.
Way to go hatcher. Any time you want to take your own teammates out with a running off your feet hit, go right ahead. I have no respect for him.
Colaiacovo was taken out with a knee on knee hit, but it was an accidental hit. He's played five games after being gone forever with head and knee injuries. Looks like he's gone again.
They said Lupul is okay. plus Philly lost kapanen after a puck said hello to his face.
2-2, we end up taking some bad penalties, final seconds (I've been here before) philly's Mike Richards scores and we lose.
But hey, Canadian juniors won. woohoo.

Re: philly wins in Toronto

Hatcher probably wanted to find a nuetral locker room to change in after that one. Biting a hand in one game, then coming back with that dumb move.

Same with Downie. I've said in other posts, I feel he has no place on this hockey team. I think he has had looooooooooooong suspensions in every league he has played in, all for dirty play. I just don't get what they expect from him. I guess John Stevens likes brain dead play...

Re: philly wins in Toronto

I'm glad to hear you say that - I was thinking as a big Philly fan, you might come back at me telling me the leafs are a bunch of woosses.
The punch by Downie was a head shaker - what were you thinking?, I yelled at the screen.
and what is it about hatcher that has made him previous captain material? he's a backstreet bully. Philly - or maybe it's just me - misses players like Leclair and Primeau and Gagne and Recchi.

All very good points. I love hard hitting hockey, but not dirty hockey. Hopefully, this team will find a way to win without the dirty crap.

And I miss those players too. I don't know what Jason Smith is preaching in the locker room. When Primeau was wearing the C, we were a team that played the right way. I'm not gonna say the Flyers were perfect, but they weren't the cheap shot artists they are becoming today.

We shall see how this season works out, but we are pretty far into things now, and the water is still running dirty!

Re: philly wins in Toronto

Colaiacovo is out 7-10 days with a knee contusion.
It's the same knee he had surgically repaired last summer - it took him eight months of rehab to get back into the lineup.
They say this isn't such a bad hit, though.
