McCabe scores winner for Sabres

Yesirree.
What a game. Going into the 3rd, Raycroft had a shutout, 2-0. then boom boom boom boom etc -Game ends 4-4. It was five goals in five minutes and then the sabres tie it, we go into OT, and with 3 seconds to go, McCabe tries to clear it into the corner but misses and nets it. raycroft dives (NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!) but too late, Sabres win in OT, they cheer a goal scored by the Leafs defenceman - we pay McCabe lot of money for moves like that.

I can hardly talk about it after that but I must say, Antropov is doing very well even though he took a penalty in the last couple of minutes of play.
And Kilger rocked, especially with Antropov (some beautiful passes to the 2 goal scorer last night).
I won't harp. I know McCabe feels like crap today. He's been getting booed lately at the ACC - this will not help.
Oh and Raycroft? he was something else - he actually made me want to cheer RAY-ZOR.

Re: McCabe scores winner for Sabres

so how ddid u feel during the game blueandwhite? it must b interesting to be a fan of the two teams that are bitter rivals and facing eachother. did u cheer when buffalo scored? or boo when toronto did? im sure not, but u dont have 2 answer . i swear the sabres must have a switch or something - they have this uncanny ability to just turn on their game when the time is right. i mean the first two periods were a drag for sabres fan cuz they couldnt get anything going. they looked flat.
i bet lindy ruff gave a good pep talk between the intermission, cuz the sabres skated like their skates were on fire. they were moving with the puck, making sick plays, and eventually, scoring, A LOT. like the energizer bunny, they just kept going and going and going - 2 goals in :35! that doesnt even compare to the 2 goals in :11 against the capitals. freakin amazing, thats all i have to say. of course, when toronto would score in retalliation, that sucked, but the sabres always came back and held onto a 4-4 tie til the end of regulation.
and who scored? hecht FINALLY, FINALLY scored the 4th and most important goal of the game after hitting, what, 4 posts? i really have a lot of faith in him - he has deceiving speed and handles the puck well. 20+ goals for him, easy.
the population of pominville just went up again after that awesome goal from a connolly pass. i saw it coming the whole time. dont u love it when that happens? (as long as its ur team that scored? )
mair scored again last night 2! he really looks like hes improved since last season - much more of an offensive player. hes making things happen, and he better cuz the sabres are counting on him to step up.
but of course, i didnt forget vanek, who scored the 3rd goal (dont ask why i went out of order ). hes ALWAYS in the right place at the right time like he was for that goal. and he doesnt get the pretty ones either - a lot of the goals last year were from deflections. another great season for him on the way.
im completely in2 the sabres season now. i cant wait to see how good theyre gonna do! (and speaking of rivals, wait til the sabres play ottawa. i smell a brawl coming...and theyre in first in the league!?!?!? NOOOOO!!!!...well, that wont b for long, at least )

Re: McCabe scores winner for Sabres

Ottawa is some kinda team this year - real tough to beat.
I mus admit, when the Leafs play anybody, I only root for the Leafs.
Yeah your guys like you said played flat - you did get some good chances on raycroft, he just robbed you. We played a very very decent defensive game.

Hecht was real pissed about that missed shot, so he blamed it on his stick.
And mcCabe - hm. There should be punishment for that one.

I do think the Sabres are just as good as before, and you are right - the ones that were shadowed by the tall shadows of Drury and Briere now come into the light.
Thibault was not on his game, though.

Re: McCabe scores winner for Sabres

I mean to post this yesterday - Tucker came out and said,
hey don't be so hard on McCabe - he's trying his best.
Violins please - aw, you're right, darce. if McCabe is trying his best that's all we can ask - this is professional sports not my kid's soccer league.
A friend of mine suggested that when a player scores on his own net, he should be fired and forced to get a day job.
I'm not going to make much more of it - except Mccabe better be on his game tonight versus Florida.
