Peca talking to Leafs

I personally would like to see the leafs sign Peca, at a not so costly fee as previous, which is inevitable. After nine months on crutches, i think it is reasonable to expect a discount.
But apparently, the Sabres, the islanders and the rangers are also interested in Mister Peca.
Here's hoping we get him to sign.

I hope the Islanders go in a different direction. You can't count on him. He's just too brittle.

Re: Peca talking to Leafs

The headline in the paper today is:
If Peca stays, Stajan goes.
Okay, I'm not hip with that jive.
Peca has said "Money is not an issue", and he is coming cheaper than he used to, especially after the broken leg last season - but the investment in a young Stajan seems much more wise than putting the $$ in an older athlete like Peca who is, let's admit it, on his way out. If we lose Stajan we better have someone worthy to show for it.
Still talk that both the sabres and the rangers want him. Rangers sent Cullen back to carolina and apparently freed up some more $$ - i think the rangers sold their soul to the Devil and have limitless cash and no cap, that's my reasoning for how they always seem to have a little more.

Re: Peca talking to Leafs

It's an ongoing freaking saga. Peca now has the offer - it is said to be a one year deal, worth half of the 2.5 mill he got last year (for sitting on his backside with a broken leg).
Suggestion for giving us more room beneath the cap - hang onto Stajan and get rid of raycroft - what do you think?

Re: Peca talking to Leafs

Just snagged this off the internet - maybe it's because Raycroft was "ranked no. 32 in goals against and no. 35 in save percentage, despite the Leafs being ranked no. 2 in shots on goal differential and all 6 top defenders having a plus rating".
You don't need to tell me he sucks, but sshhhh- we need the $$.
