Forward Mark Bell also comes in the deal for Toronto’s 2007 or ’08 first-round pick (that’s San Jose’s option), a 2007 second-round pick and a 2009 fourth-round selection. If the Sharks elect to take the Leafs' 2008 pick instead of this year's, that pick is top-ten protected, which means the Sharks get Toronto's first pick in 2009, if their '08 pick is in the top ten. The Leafs went into Friday night’s draft with the 13th overall selection.

Toskala, 30, has one year remaining on a contract that pays him only $1.375 million (all figures U.S.). Sources told The Canadian Press that Ferguson was already working on signing him to an extension...
Toskala’s record was 26-10-1 with a 2.35 goals-against average and .908 save percentage last season. He has long been viewed as a capable No. 1 goalie but had to share the net with Evgeni Nabokov in San Jose.

Apparently Boston was going for Toskala too, and is now talking with the Wild about Fernandez.

this is awsome news!!!! The question still remains, who will be the leafs starter, if it were my decision id definitly go with Vesa. I think Raycroft has alot of potential to be a good investment for the Leafs, however, i dont think he's quite at the starting goalie level yet, he would serve as a great backup for the leafs.

see, this is my only problem with this deal...sure, im happy the leafs have Toskala, but can we really afford to give up draft picks? The leafs are currently in a state of building for the future, and I dont know if its such a great idea to give up draft picks for a starting goaltender, when we've already invested so much in Raycroft, who has only been with the Leafs one season. I just hope Toskala can make an immediate affect on the organization. and what will become of Aubin???? will he be traded?

Aubin is leaving, they won't offer him up a contract now - and Raycroft is not a starting goalie.
Still - Toskala has something to prove to us.
