Sundin signs one year deal

They say this is the way they'll go with Mats from now on. Well, actually, what they are saying is, make the playoffs this year or you are out.
It's also speculated that Maurice and raycroft will be tossed on their butts if we don't get into the post season.
I'm sorry, raycroft is still a leaf? (weep weep) - I know, i go back and forth on him.
Sundin will get 5.5 mill this year. Ferguson now has about $800,000 to play with and there is speculation he will possibly be looking to get Cujo back for that money. I hated Cujo when he left so abruptly (a love story gone wrong) but I have even less faith in raycroft. At least Cujo was exciting in net.
Sundin, at the height of his career in 02/03 was making 9 mill a year. he's on the way back down, i guess.
This is his year to prove us wrong.
Other signings - expect Peca to be signed, and battaglia, O'Neill, Aubin and Green to be let go (not so sure on this one, though - I think we'll hang onto battaglia).

Blue:

Do you like the Sundin signing? Why re-sign Peca? He's only good for about 40 games...Hope he takes calcium pills and strenghtens up those bones

Re: Sundin signs one year deal

You know, i'm not sure why i like Peca - I think he added a huge shot of adrenalin while he was here. he was exciting to watch. and he is amazing on a penalty kill.
If he had stayed healthy, we would have done better.
i like the sundin signing. as much as i love the big bald Swede, he has been given more than enough chances - this is the year to finally show what he's made of. How much is it to ask to make the playoffs, for crying out loud?
he is a great leader and i cannot imagine the Leafs without him, but these past two years have been massively disappointing for us fans - and it wasn't maurice who let us down.

Should I remind you that Columbus is the only NHL team never to make the playoffs?...perhaps not...misery shouldn't really crave company.

Re: Sundin signs one year deal

hey I mentioned that today in the 'awards' thread.
it's just, Toronto not making the playoffs is like Christmas without snow.
