Ed Belfour isn't exactly happy with some of the new NHL rules for goaltenders. The Toronto Maple Leaf goalie told The Toronto Sun that the new rules, specifically one that limits the area in which goalies will be allowed to handle the puck, were "a joke." "I think at this level (the rule) is a bit of a joke," Belfour told the newspaper Tuesday. "Maybe some forwards should play with their opposite hand. Or, better yet, play with their sticks upside down. That's what I equate it to." Belfour is known for being the type of goaltender to move out of the crease and play the puck. "I'm sure the general managers who don't have a puck-handling goaltender were the ones who voted for this rule. "We have the world's fastest game, one of skill, and, like Marty (Devils goaltender martin Brodeur) has said, they are taking one of our skills away. ... I will find a way around it, though." I guess he hasn't found a way through it |

| Re: Belfour rests for final push Eddie gives me heart palpitations every time he leaves the crease. he always gets caught up, distracted, whatever and getting back is like, GOGOGOGO!!!! I do see how the goalies were expected to come in and adapt fast. Seems brodeur is figuring it out okay. Not his best year, but he's not losing his #1 spot. Combination age and new rules, maybe? Old dog and all that. |
