There's a hilarious article on Nik Antropov today and some quotes from maurice on why fans actually boo at the ACC whenever they announce that Antropov is a scratch.
maurice says there is a language barrier there, and Antropov comes across as aloof. He also says fans in TO expect the world from their new acquisitions and sometimes that is unrealistic.
I have a different take on it.
On october 3 of 2006, he hurt his lower leg and was out for 10 games. On December 6, he hurt his ankle and missed 17 games.
Since 1998, when he was our number one pick, he has had surgeries on both knees, undergone a shoulder operation, fractured a bone in his foot and suffered a long list of muscle strains, sprains and pulls (thank you Toronto Sun for that info) till they come out the yingyang.
That is why we don't appreciate him enough. I'm not one to boo a player (unless you are alfredsson), but he is not one to be trusted. At our home, we call him Nik Madeofglass Antropov. Yeah, he scored one on his first game back. but give him a nasty shove or make a funny turn around the net, and chances are, he'll go limping off again.
