Re: Frank Thomas joins 500

Thomas has hit 10% of all his homers against the Twins.

50 HR v. Twins
39 HR v. Orioles
37 HR v. Red Sox
37 HR v. Royals
35 HR v. Angels

They're the top 5 teams he's swatted around.

Re: Frank Thomas joins 500

Yeah, it was a three-run dinge in the first inning. And then he got himself run for arguing balls and strikes in the ninth inning! "I'm probably the first to get 500 home runs and get thrown out of the ballgame," the Big Hurt told reporters afterwards. "That's something I didn't want to happen, but the moment just got the best of me." Classic!

Cool Re: Frank Thomas joins 500 home run club

I think Thomas is a HOFamer. Even though a lot of it has been as a DH, he has been a great hitter for the majority of his career. What does everybody else think?

He is definitely a HOFer. In his prime, he was one of the most feared hitters in the game.

It's close, but only because he has spent so much time as a DH. Ultimately I agree that he does get in, but probably not on the first ballot.

He's still pretty feared. I wouldn't want to be 60 feet away pitching to him.

Easy Hall of Famer. Two MVPs, 500 homers, .303 lifetime avergae, a batting title, 12th all time in walks, and over 1,600 runs batted in with 11 100 RBI seasons. First Ballot in my opinion.

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I'm positive the media will punish him for DHing and not vote him in first ballot.

Re: Frank Thomas joins 500 home run club

When did he start playing DH. I remember seeing him at 1B most of his career? Could he suffer from a short memory?

Well, he's always played a little DH, even as a rookie. But as of today, Thomas has played 2,173 games. He was a DH in 1,165 of them and 1B in 971 of them. Therefore he has to primarily be considered a DH, right?
