Didn't take long for Toronto P A.J. Burnett to get injured again. He's set to miss his first two starts with elbow soreness. I guess it's too early to say for sure that the 29-year-old's 5-year, $55 million deal was a bust, but Burnett's Blue Jays career sure isn't off to a good start.

What amazes me is how much risk is taken by a MLB team when signing a pitcher to a huge contract like that. It doesn't make a lot of sense but the business of baseball is such a sweetheart deal for the players.

More trouble for Burnett - he left yesterday's start after four innings with a sore right elbow. Blue Jays spokesman Jay Stenhouse told the Associated Press that the condition was "consistent with what (Burnett) experienced in spring training." However, the hurler will be examined by Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama. Well spent $55 million here, eh?

At this point in his contract, it doesn't look like a bright acquistion. But there are more years in his contract.

Burnett signed a 5 year 55 million dollar deal so after this he has 4 years left. Maybe the Knicks will take this contract off the Jays hands.
