According to the Associated Press, "The Toronto Blue Jays placed closer B.J. Ryan on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a sprained elbow, a day after he blew his second save in his last four chances." Ryan is going to be looked at by Dr. James Andrews in Alabama on Monday, and setup man Jason Frasor will close for Toronto in the meantime. They must think its serious if Andrews is going to look at it.

Yeah, tell me about it...Ryan and Gagne on the DL...I am digging deep for good relievers now...I also had 4 more on the DL before I cleaned house last night...its a wonder I am playing .500 ball...that and the freakin rain outs...but what's funny is, I have won 4 baseball titles in the last 6 tries and I have never lead before the break...so I am par for the course.

Why not pick on their respective replacements? At least that way you're guaranteed save opps.

Ricciardi, who made the comments to the Fan 590 after Toronto's 15-13 loss to the Cleveland Indians on Thursday night, said it wasn't a back injury that initially sidelined the pitcher in Florida, the Globe and Mail reported Saturday.
"It was his elbow that was bothering him," Ricciardi said during the interview. "So we said it was his back, so we could have a bit more time."
The team initially said Ryan had a back injury that kept him off the field for about 14 days. Two weeks ago, after two blown saves, the team put Ryan on the 60-day disabled list with what they said is a left elbow strain.
At that time, the Blue Jays said they didn't believe his back injury had anything to do with his arm trouble.
