... I think many teams, including our Texas Rangers, would be 59-71 if they had to play in the same division as the Red Sox and the Yanks. ...

Re: Frank Francisco comeback

Looks like Texas reliever Frank Francisco's rehab is coming along well. According to this story, "Francisco’s fastball was clocked at 91-94 miles per hour in his most recent outing for Double-A Frisco. After spending much more time than expected on the DL recovering from Tommy John surgery, Francisco is finally making real strides towards returning to the bigs." Think he'll be a September callup?

Re: Frank Francisco comeback

Even if he does get called up in September, he won't make a big impact for the Rangers. Texas is out of the Playoff race and there is nothing that will get them back in it.

Re: Frank Francisco comeback

The Rangers official site noted the team is looking for Francisco to pitch in winter ball this off-season, since he hasn't pitched in the majors in about two years.

They can use all the pitching they can get.

Re: Frank Francisco comeback

I agree with EmpireWF about Texas' need for pitching.

I expect the Rangers to go after some aces this off-season. If Teixiera is on the market, they can get further than we expect. Carlos Lee is on Texas too, right? They have a good team for the future, but I'm not sure if next year counts.

Re: Frank Francisco comeback

Well, according to the AP, "The Texas Rangers on Friday recalled right-hander Frank Francisco... manager Buck Showalter said before Friday night's game that he plans to use Francisco in the final weeks of the season... The 26-year-old spent the entire 2006 season in the minor leagues after undergoing ligament replacement surgery in April 2005. He hasn't pitched in a major league game since Sept. 17, 2004." So how good will he be two-years after his last major league action?

Re: Frank Francisco comeback

He has to get back into the groove of things before he makes an instant impact. Just like my favorite, Jason Williams if he returns to the NBA. He got injured in a motorcycle accident after his rookie year and his hopes were shot down for the NBA. Now about three years later he craves a comeback.
