Texas looking to acquire starter

The Texas Rangers are said to be in the market for another starter to help out their woeful pitching staff. Some of the names being bandied about are Kris Benson, Washington's Livan Hernandez, Philadelphia's Cory Lidle, Cleveland's Jake Westbrook and Kansas City's Mark Redman. Personally, I think Westbrook would be the one to go after if this team's serious about winning the AL West in 2006. Do you agree?

Cool Re: Texas looking to acquire starter

None thrill me but Westbrook would probably be the best of those.

Re: Texas looking to acquire starter

Why is it that this ball club cannot figure out that in order to succeed you must have pitching? They have never had a real good staff. I have been a fan of their since I was a DR Pepper Jr. Ranger back in the late 70's and it is the same old story every year. Score tons of runs and give up even more.

And they'll have a hard time getting a top free-agent pitcher to sign there because of the ballpark. They'd have to throw a lot of money (overpay) for someone to go there and pitch. They have a ton of offensive talent though.
