Re: Texas Rangers second half preview

Interesting look at the Texas Rangers and their quest to win the AL West in 2006. So what do they need to do in the second half finish above Oakland, with whom they are currently tied atop the division? Well, according to this article, they need more production out of Mark Teixeira, consistancy out of Brad Wilkerson and Kevin Mench, a healthy Adam Eaton and wins against the Athletics and Angels. Also, Texas needs Gary Matthews Jr. and Mark DeRosa to continue their career years and improvement out of the pen. Sounds about right to me. The question is, can they get all of those pieces to come together?

Re: Texas Rangers second half preview

If Texas can't beat Oakland this year they never will. The A's have one of the absolute worse lineups in the AL, maybe even baseball. They have a catcher leading off who has hit one home runs in his last 1,000 at bats, a second baseman and shortstop who have about 50 RBI between them, Jay Payton and Bobby Kielty batting in the middle of the order, and washed up Frank Thomas as DH. Add to taht one of the worst managers I have ever seen in Ken Macha and I am flabergasted that they lead the division.
