Rangers Prospects

Some potential prospects for Texas are pitchers with solid arms.

Edison Voloquez, pitched in 4 different leagues, but the team loves the way he pitches, with a 93-96 mph fastball, and a wicked changeup. Last year, he struck out 139 and only walked 39. Voloquez, should start the season in (AAA) Oklahoma City, and maybe by the end of the year, Voloquez will be with the Rangers.

John Danks, has really good stuff. A solid fastball in the low 90s, and a good changeup. Danks, will start the season at Frisco (AA), but by the end of the year, Danks will be with Oklahoma.

Thomas Diamond, had a good year last year, in two different leagues. Diamond, went 8-0 at Bakersfield (A) with a ERA of 1.99, and he struck out 101 and walked only 31. Diamond is like Danks, he will start at Frisco but if he is consistent, then he should move up to Oklahoma.

Some other prospects to watch: outfielders--Jason Botts and John Mayberry, infielders--Joaquin Arias, Johnny Whittleman and Ian Kinsler, catcher--Taylor Teagarden and pitchers--Eric Hurley, Armando Galarraga, Josh Rupe, Michael Schlact and C.J. Wilson.

look out for AA Frisco closer Mark Roberts who missed the first prt of last year witha broken foot. he hurt ina bar 1 week before spring training. he has the make up of a great reliver, and he will probably get a shot in the next year or two. he has that Rick "wild thing " Vaughn make up from major league 1

Ian Kinsler should be good. I have seen him play in the minors and he looks like he could be a long term solid player.

Danks should also be good. Not sure about Mayberry. He had a less than stellar year in A rookie ball last year but some of that can be attributed to some swing changes his hitting coach, Mark Whitten, was trying to implement. They are trying to get him to shorten his swing so if he can get that ironed out his numbers should improve as he becomes more comfortable with the new swing.
