Cool Re: Texas Rangers trade Phil Nevin

I like Nevin. But he has been Dh-ing...Where is Chicago gonig to play him?

...And did the Cubs just give up on Hariston?

I really thought he would go to an American league team.

Re: Texas Rangers trade Phil Nevin

Who's been playing 1st with Lee out? I could see Nevin there. Its an interesting move for Chicago. They've got to be gambling that the switch back to the NL will help Nevin out some. Hairston's a good, solid player -- better than Nevin now, but not as good as Nevin can be. So basically its a deal of the sure thing for the high risk player. We'll see who gets the best of it.

Yeah, I figured firstbase...but that can't be long term...I know Nevin came in as a thridbaseman and a catcher...but that was long ago. I think he will hit well in Chicago...jsut can't see where they will play him.

Re: Texas Rangers trade Phil Nevin

Well, its quite possible he's not meant to be there long term. Maybe he'll be dished or dumped at the end of the season. Who knows?

Cool Re: Texas Rangers trade Phil Nevin

Chicago needed the pop. They have plenty of punch and Judy hitters.

Re: Texas Rangers trade Phil Nevin

I was surprised Chicago striked a deal for Nevin, just be putting Hairston on the table. I guess since Phil Nevin is 35-years old, the Rangers wanted to get rid of him. He is still a great hitter and will continue to bring his powerful batting skills to Chicago.

While we are on this topic, ESPN.COM said that the last three trades (one-for-one) in ESPN's Fantasy Baseball concerning Phil Nevin were:

1.Phil Nevin---for----Joey Gathright---Accepted
2.Phil Nevin---for----Todd Helton------Accepted
3.Phil Nevin---for-----Lyle Overbay----Rejected

What are your comments about these recent fantasy trades?

I'm kind of with you Lefty, Barrett is a solid catcher but Nevin could be there to give him some rest. The Cubs started out pulling Mabry off the bench to play first but most recently have been steadily playing Walker at first. I can see Nevin at first and then put Walker back at second. The Cubs also have Womack who has played 2B to help with this situation. Its a very confusing trade. I found an article on SI.com with some comments by Dusty and the Cubs GM Hendry. The conclusion is that they just need a bat. But for $10 million bucks? I think they were better off sticking with Hairston. If Mabry could just hit his weight we wouldn't have this problem. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html

I would say "What fool would trade Nevin for Todd Helton?"

My thoughts exactly. Must've been Isiah Thomas.

aaah...yeah, I guess his thinking would be no different in Fantasy Baseball...

Which reminds me...my fantasy team is playing .688 ball...which probably means I am going to fade in the second half...I have peaked too soon!...

That is an incredible winning-percentage, Gotham Dark Knight. I suspect that you are doing an outstanding job managing the team with the help and support of the GoTeamsGo Forum. Would you mind sharing us the specifics of your league and if possible, your line-up? I would love to give you some helpful advise to keep up the peak. As I learned in Earth Science, you always want to ride the "crest" or the wave, and never the "troph".
