| Padilla earns shutout win Vincente Padilla just threw the best game by a Texas Rangers pitcher in three years. According to the Dallas Morning News, "Dominating with his fastball and effective late with his off-speed stuff, Padilla shut out Minnesota, 10-0, to become the first Ranger in nearly three years to pitch a complete-game shutout. The last was Kenny Rogers, who did it on May 14, 2005 at Minnesota." "But Padilla's outing represented more. He also became the first right-handed Rangers pitcher to throw a shutout in Arlington – a haven for left-handed hitters – since Rick Helling on July 29, 2001. With 121 pitches in his seven-hit shutout, he became the first Ranger to throw 120 pitches since Kenny Rogers on Sept. 11, 2005. Every other AL club had at least one 120-pitch outing in that span."
