Cool Best Ranger of all time

This is tough.

I guess it has to be A-Rod, huh? I didn't even think of him immediately. I just don't consider him a Ranger.

So A-Rod aside, who is the best Texas Ranger?

Jeff Burroughs? Fergie Jenkins? I-Rod?

Re: Best Ranger of all time

Nolan Ryan spent more that a few years with the Rangers. He'd probably get the nod from me. If not him, then maybe Pudge.

Ryan was only there at the end of his career. Although, you're right - he did pitch pretty well....

Re: Best Ranger of all time

Well, he pitched two no-hitters for them, earned his 300th win as a Ranger and beat the snot out of Robin Ventura in one of the best baseball brawls I've ever seen. Plus he was the last active player from the 1960s to retire. He posted a 2.91 ERA and had over 200 strikeouts at the age of 44 while in Texas. So, yeah, maybe that doesn't really qualify him to be the best player in the team's history, but those are some pretty impressive accomplishments.

Ventura only half heartly charged him...though Ryan took no mercy and cow punched him good...I remember that fight.

How about Jeff Bouroughs AL MVP when the Rangers where the worst just about the worst team in the league...

and do the stats of the Washington Senators carry over?...any love for Frank Howard the Capital Punisher?

That's what I loved about it. Ventura looked like he was afraid he'd hurt the old man. Then he gets thrown in a headlock and pummeled right-good. Thing of beauty, that.

I agree. I would go with Jeff Burroughs.
