Kevin Millwood vs. Kenny Rogers

What does everyone think of the Kevin Millwood signing. He went just 9-11 with Cleveland last year but had a 2.86 ERA and 146 strikeouts. Will he be a better ace for the Rangers' staff than Kenny Rogers (14-8, 3.46 ERA, 87 K) was last season?

I've always thought Millwood was overrated and overpaid, but that makes him no different from lots of big league pitchers these days.

Are we comparing Millwood to the pre or post-meltdown Kenny Rogers? it was obvious Rogers couldn't stay here. After the camera incident in Arlington, Kenny wasn't the same pitcher - he needed a change of scenery. Millwood will be better than most of what the Rangers have, but he won't be great.

Kevin Milwood is younger, a harder thrower, and not a little ☻☻☻☻☻ like Kenny. I'm excited to have Milwood!

I agree. Milwood has the higher upside..and to call Kenny Rogers an "Ace" at this stage, is just another way of saying the Texas Rangers have a good offense.

Kenny Rogers is great in meaningless games for bad teams but ask the Yankees and Mets how Mr. Rogers fared in the playoffs. Talk about Meltdown. The guy was afraid to throw the ball near the plate.

And Gotham is 100% right. When Kenny Rogers is your ace, you're in big trouble.

Milwood bas his flaws but I'd mcuh rather have him.

Re: Kevin Millwood vs. Kenny Rogers

Kenny Rogers has melted down in the second half the last two years, and I am referring only to his play on the field. Whether he runs out of gas or whether teams have a better feel for him the second time they face him, his results have been a little shaky after the All-Star break. He did recover in time for a decent September last season, but at his age, and as a Tigers fan, I'm hoping he has SOMETHING left in the tank.
