Godzillatron: Texas Scoreboard

Its nickname is Godzillatron.

The monstrous new scoreboard the University of Texas' gridiron football stadium, towering over the south end zone at 55 feet high and 134 feet wide, is more than just a Texas-sized upgrade at Royal-Memorial Stadium, home of the defending national champions.

It's nearly as wide as the field itself and will be, for a short time at least, the largest high-definition video display board in the world, school officials said.

And Texas players can't wait to watch super-sized replays of their touchdowns.

FOX Sports - COLLEGE FOOTBALL - Hey, Austin: Meet Godzillatron

looks like what Mark Cuban would have at his house

Man, that thing is big.

The $8 million scoreboard and sound system easily dwarf the old unit. It's the most visible change so far in a $150 million stadium renovation that will add about 10,000 seats in the north end zone, bringing capacity to just over 90,000 by 2008.
Only 90,000 seats? I thought you guys in TX were football fans

They couldn't stand it that Kyle Field is currently the biggest venue in the state. Their reign will be short lived. A&M has plans on the drawing board to expand Kyle Field to over 110,000 seats.

Godzillatron...at least it has a cool name...do the people who fill the highest parts of a 110,000 seat stadium really get to see the game?...do they bring a TV with them?...are they just there to party?...I mean that has to be some fine air up there...or out there...I can't imagine anything over 70,000 offering much of a view.
