| Ray Dowdy dies Ray Dowdy, a former All-Southwest Conference defensive tackle for the Texas Longhorns, has died at the age of 56. Dowdy was a member of the 1970 national championship team. He suffered a heart attack while driving to Austin, where he was to start work as an assitant principal with Rusk High School. Anyone here have memories of seeing Dowdy play?

| Re: Ray Dowdy dies I never saw him play, but he was my Athletic Director at Mabank. He always smiled and never let anyone he ever coached, directly or indirectly, give up or not give 1000%. His pushing taught me things that I will never forget. |
