Pity poor Colt McCoy. He's the quarterback who will take over as the starting quarterback of the Texas Longhorns, replacing some fella named Vince Young or something like that. McCoy is projected as the starter by Street & Smiths, but Jevan Snead is also being given a shot to win the starting job. As the magazine says, though, "Young's talent cannot be duplicated by anybody in burnt orange or anyone else in college football for that matter." That said, will McCoy (or Snead) be good enough to help this team return to the BCS in 2006?

Okay, maybe Colt McCoy doesn't need our pity. With roughly 12:00 left in the Texas - North Texas game, McCoy has completed 12-19 pass attempts for 177 yards and three scores, while also running four times for 38 yards and another score. Definitely an impressive first start for this kid McCoy, isn't it?

Let's wait and see how he does next week against a real team. North Texas isn't going to challenge anybody in the top 25.

He looked good. They just have so much talent on that team, all he needs to do right now is avoid the big mistake and they should be fine. We will see how he looks next week vs Ohio State. I didn't realize that both QB's battling for the starting job were Freshmen. Damn!
