Are the 2005 Texas Longhorns the best NCAA football team of all time? We may well have an answer to that question soon, thanks to the Scout.com/WhatIfSports Tournament of Champions. The '05 Longhorns came back to beat the ’91 Washington Huskies, 19-16, to advance to next Thursday's championship game against the ’96 Florida Gators. Who do you think would win in a match-up of these two squads?

The Gators, but neither of these teams are anywhere near the two best college football teams of all time. Off the top of my head I can honestly say the following teams are considered better:
2004 Trojans
2001 Hurricanes
1999 Florida State
1995 Nebraska
1994 Nebraska
1994 Penn State
1993 Florida State

The 95 Huskers team blew everyone off the field. That Florida team of 96 had the same players that the 95 Nebraska team annihilated 62-24 in the Fiesta Bowl the year before. The 95 Huskers beat 4 teams that finished the season ranked in the top 10 and not one of those games was even close. They not only had the #1 offense in the nation, they also had the #1 defense in the nation. The few points they did give up that season were always late when the 2nd and 3rd string players were on the field. No way does the Texas team of last year compare to that.
