Even the great ones struggle from time to time, so when the Longhorns softball ace Cat Osterman surrendered three hits and a pair of walks to Washington, it was up to #9 hitter Shannon Thomas to bail her out, and Thomas did just that. She hit a RBI single in the fifth and Texas won 1-0. Sounds like it was one heck of a game. Anyone catch it?

When you string together...Cat struggled with ...gave up three hits and two walks in a 1-0 shutout...you are putting Osterman in a league of her own...

Entering her senior year at Texas, this south paw hails from Houston, TX and was the youngest member of Team USA to take home a dominating gold medal in Athens in 2004. The 2003 & 2005 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, the 6’1” athlete is noted as one of the top pitchers not only in the country but in the world. A psychology major, Osterman first picked up a softball in first grade after a friend asked her to sign up. But after a year she quit to play soccer, but eventually landed back in the dugout in 5th grade and never left since. A three-time NFCA All-American at just 22 years of age, Osterman adds that softball has provided her with another family away from home. She has a family who works hard and supports her in whatever she does, even if it is clapping for her when she trips on her cleats in front of an entire stadium (which she says has happened more than once!)
